THE WINTER COAT EDIT

It’s that time of year again, when the clocks have gone back and my mind’s firmly on the approaching winter. When it comes to style, winter = coat season! Coat season started a little earlier in Paris this year, all of a sudden temperatures dropped and we’ve been reaching for layers and bulkier cover-ups much earlier than usual. And wrapping up and staying warm is more important than ever for obvious reasons….Luckily I have a small but perfectly formed collection of coats that I’ve bought and been fortunately gifted over the past few years, which have become wardrobe staples, but of course being the magpie that I am, there are always new styles I like to add to my closet each year - I just make sure they last more than one season.

I know I bang on about this a lot, but it’s important to invest in good quality items and a great coat that will last at least a few years is an essential piece. In winter it will be also the focal point of your outfit and may even be the only thing people see! So choosing the perfect one for your budget, style and varying degrees of cold weather can be quite daunting, which is why I’m here to help.

Luckily, there are so many different types of winter coats to suit everyone’s taste, but I think there are a few timeless styles that will see you through a few years. I have handpicked a selection that I personally would love to wear this winter. My advice is to stick with something neutral so that it will slot easily into a capsule wardrobe. And if warmth is the highest priority for you when choosing a coat, know your materials and choose one made with wool or mohair or if it’s a padded jacket go for down.
