The best all year round candles & candle holders

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved candles - I had a candle making kit as a child and would always purchase them throughout my teens too. For me they’re a staple accessory for creating a beautiful, thoughtfully curated and lived in home. They not only provide a lovely ambience - I dislike strong lighting for example, especially ceiling lights and always prefer table or floor lamps that emit the light upwards (although I love them, pendants and suspension lighting are mainly for decoration in my opinion) - and candles are perfect for giving off a beautiful upwards glow, and of course if you find the right fragrance, you’ll have a gorgeously scented home too!

They’ve also certainly been one of the little pleasures that have helped get me through the past year - I light them during the evening for dinner (attempting to re-create a restaurant vibe at home); to help mask any strong cooking odours or to create a warm atmosphere while I’m in my living area for the evening watching a film or dancing with my boyfriend. (Yes, on the weekend over the past six months together, we turn up the music, light all the candles and create our own club at home! Highly recommended if you haven’t done this yet.)

I have a few favourite brands and scents, such as the Diptyque Figue candle, Josephine by Trudon and Honeysuckle and Davana by Jo Malone London, but I’ve also been seeking out more unique shapes and colours, as well as investing in pretty candle holders, which add more elegance and interest to my space. *A little tip - to help preserve the burning time, make sure you cut the wick before burning your candle each time and keep it as short as possible. The longer the wick, the faster a candle will burn.
