Fun & festive pieces for New Year's Eve

Hope you’re doing ok…? I know things feel very uncertain at the moment and it’s not the easiest time of year for many. If you’ve been following my Stories, you might have seen that I had a stressful end to last week trying to get my mum to Paris. I didn’t spend the holidays with my family last year, so planned to have my mum stay with us this year now that I’m living with Victor and we have a spare room! Last Thursday morning they announced they were closing the boarders to British citizens and rather than spend a second year without family and my mum having to spend it on her own, we managed to change her ticket, get her a rapid Covid test and she arrived at midnight Friday after a three hour delay leaving London.

We are the lucky ones, as I’m sure there are many people who will be spending Christmas without family again this year, what with new rules being put in place. If you are, I’m thinking of you and sending love. But if you are able celebrate with family and friends, I’ve put together an edit of fun and festive pieces to bring the new year in. Even if new year’s eve is consisting of more Zoom parties - I suggest putting on your best attire, dressing up is a mood booster! And we need all the boosting that we can get!

I had planned to drive to the UK next Tuesday with Victor so we could spend it with a few of my oldest friends (and see more of my family), but sadly it’s looking likely that we’ll be staying at home again this year, but I will still probably put on a dress - because if you can’t dress up for New Year’s Eve, when can you? Plus the pieces I’ve picked are all timeless items that you can wear to winter weddings, winter soirees and keep for next year. Here’s hoping things start to look a little more positive in 2022, but in the mean time here is some dressing up inspiration!
