HOW TO CREATE THE PERFECT SETTING FOR A PARISIAN APÉRO

RueRodierParisianApero_01.jpg

The apéro - that sacred French institution that the Parisians do so well. Instead of snacking throughout the day, the French save their appetite for this chic social gathering around easy, yet good food and great wine. One could call it an elegant French equivalent to the British ‘happy hour’, but there is no exact translation.

Ingrained in French culture l’apéro is a staple in many Parisian get-togethers. It signals the end of work and the start of socialising with friends over a glass (or two) and some delicious French snack foods. Typically, you’ll find a crusty baguette paired with creamy goat’s cheese and charcuterie. Throw in some olives, grapes and nuts for the finishing touch and to add colour if you’d like your spread to look particularly good. The apéro isn’t the type of dinner party that often requires cooking, but you still want the set-up to be chic and inviting for your guests. During this period, your guests are probably virtual or limited to the people you live with, but we think it’s nice to put in the effort even it’s just for one! Think of it as practise for the real thing.

To help you curate yours in the not too distant future (we hope) we have found some items that will help you create the perfect Parisian apéro. Sophisticated serving trays, beautiful cutlery, aesthetically pleasing linens and sculptural candle holders that will be the backbone of your table. Shop our picks below! Santé!
