Home Edit: Vases
If you’ve been my reader, Instagram follower, newsletter subscriber or all three (thank you!) then you’ll know that I love vases - in all different shapes and sizes and in both glass and ceramic. Of course, interiors and beautiful objects are very important to me - that’s the whole philosophy behind my Better Living series and the ethos of this site and my brand. And that’s because I believe that doses of daily aesthetic pleasure can have a positive effect on our well-being, I know I can certainly feel it. For me, fresh flowers housed in beautiful vases, alongside the ritual of shopping and styling them in my home, provide a small relief from an otherwise hectic lifestyle.
When it comes to vase styles, there are so many to choose from. I tend not to deviate too far from my home’s aesthetic though at the same time it’s a good opportunity to inject texture and interest on a smaller scale. I have several vases in my home, and I reach for whichever one I think looks best with the flowers or stems I purchased that day. A note on flowers, some have become ‘Insta darlings’ (thinking of peonies in particular) but you don’t have to choose large and expensive blooms every time, and plus these are only in season from late April to June. Stems, branches, and even greens that are considered weeds (cow parsley grows abundantly in many green spaces) can and do look great. It’s also worth buying flowers and stems fresh with the intention of letting them dry out, like eucalyptus, giving you the best of both worlds. If you would prefer to not spend money on flowers weekly, then dried flowers and decorative grasses are a great option to go for. I was recently featured in an article on UK Glamour all about how to style dried flowers. Below are a few of my favourite vase finds categorised into ceramic and glass vase sections. I hope my edit will make your buying choices easier when it comes to shopping a pretty receptacle for your fresh blooms!

I’ve also picked out few dried blooms that I think will look particularly pretty in all those vases.
