Style Edit: the best timeless jewelry pieces to invest in

I’ve always loved collecting jewelry. I started with silver rings adorned with dolphins that I picked up on a holiday in Crete when I was a child. I was also given various Norwegian silver pieces by my Norwegian grandparents, and I would spend hours rummaging around in my mum’s jewelry boxes, adorning myself with them. She has a brilliant array of gold pieces and costume jewelry. When I was 21 I had my first heirloom forever piece created. I inherited a couple of precious stones (a diamond and pink tourmaline) from my grandma and my mum paid to have them set into a ring that I designed. I’ve worn it every day since and it’s still the most asked about piece of jewelry I own.

As jewelry is so personal and pieces are little manifestations of the people I love, I knew that for Christmas last year I wanted a piece of jewelry from Victor that I could wear daily. The first ring he bought me was a little too big, so we went to another brand, Paris-based designer Annelise Michelson that he liked and I chose the Unity ring (actually his first choice), here it is in silver and here’s a slightly different style in gold. It’s just perfect and I often double it up with this style by Daphine for a chunkier look. With the money left over he also bought me this necklace (featured in the photo) that I’d had my eye on. Both pieces are gold-plated, but will last if I don’t shower with them or wash the dishes whilst wearing them, for example.

If you’re looking to invest or treat yourself to some every day jewelry, a few of my favourite brands for affordable pieces are Alighieri, Missoma, Charlotte Chesnais (my friends bought me these gorgeous mini hoops for my birthday last year), Sophie Buhai, Agmes, Lié Studio, Louis Abel and Annika Inez. Yvonn Leon also do some lovely pieces like this signet ring. For higher end investment pieces that you’ll have for life, I love Parisian-born brand Viltier - in particular their Magnetic ring. Lucy Folk, Coralie Jewelry by architect Caroline Sillesen, Natasha Schweitzer Jewellery, Griegst - the heritage Danish brand creates the most divine jewelry and tableware. I also have the cutlery on my wishlist - and Jessica McCormick.
