TALKING SENSITIVE SKIN WITH EVIDENS DE BEAUTÉ

If you've been reading Rue Rodier for a little while or following me over on my Instagram, you might already know that I talk a lot about skincare because I think it is imperative to look after your skin. It’s one of the pillars of practising good healthcare. After all it’s the biggest organ on your body. Hydrate your skin and you’re hydrating your body.

“The finest clothing made is a person’s own skin.” Mark Twain

When Evidens de Beauté - a Franco-Japanese skincare brand that specialises in sensitive skin approached me, I knew the only way to judge just how gentle and effective their products are on sensitive skin was to have my mum try them. My mum has hypersensitive skin; she’s very fair and freckled and has suffered from melanoma in the past. As I only work with brands and promote products that I believe in and that actually work, I knew that before committing to working with Evidens de Beauté, the products had to pass the ‘mum test’.

I spent lockdown (confinement, Shelter in Place - however you’ve been calling it) with her in the UK, so it was a unique opportunity and the perfect time for us to try and swap products, as we're both equally inquisitive when it comes to knowing what to put on our skin. I tried a few that she’d been using and she’d tried a few of mine. Sadly a lot of products irritate her skin or bring her out in a rash, but when we tried the products that Evidens de Beauté sent me, we were both equally happy with the results and most importantly she didn’t develop an irritation.

We specifically tried The Day Moisturizer, The Night Moisturizer, The New Born Eye Mask Set, The Nourishing Lip Treatment, The Cream Mask and The Total Shield SPF 50 and I made a video for Instagram IG TV (you can watch it here), where we discuss our skincare routine, our favourite products from the range and why, sensitive skin and my mum’s tips for anti-ageing when exposing your skin to the sun. After all it’s my mum that taught me the basics for good skincare when I was a teenager.

Another aspect of the brand, besides the products that really chimed with me, is its story. Evidens de Beauté was inspired by the love that French founder; Charles-Edouard Barthes has for his Japanese wife. After falling in love with Japan and Japanese culture, he met his wife, Eriko. He closely observed her skincare routine over some time and was frustrated and saddened by how so many products reacted with her highly sensitive skin. So he decided to create Evidens de Beauté (which was born in 2007) that is specifically aimed towards skin sensitivity, blending together Japanese technology and expertise, with French elegance and refinement. The products harness key ingredients such as Triple Collagen®, an effective moisturizing ingredient and La Foux Spring Water.

Triple Collagen® is an essential protein which promotes cellular and tissue cohesion, as well as resistance. The protein retains water and hydration helping to maintain the skin’s structure by preserving its hydration, elasticity and firmness, as well as slowing down the wrinkle formation process. The natural La Foux Spring Water comes from Saint-Paul de Vence, in the South of France where Barthes spent his childhood and adolescence. The water is renowned for its medicinal properties and has a 2000 year old history to prove it: both Emperor Hadrian and Emperor Nero sent loved ones to Vence - a well know spa town at the time - to be treated by the water. I should mention that Evidens de Beauté comes at a higher price point, but I truly believe you get what you pay for and when it comes to your skin, it’s worth investing.
