What I packed for our weekend in Rome

I mentioned in my last article (my mini Rome city guide, detailing everywhere we dined, visited and shopped) that this was my first trip outside of the UK and France in 2.5 years and my first time in a different country with Victor, so I spent some time planning my outfits in advance. I usually do this every time I travel, to one save suitcase space and two, time getting dressed - so I can maximise my stays. I actually invested in the above chocolate brown Tove top in the February Net-A-Porter sale, knowing full well that if we made it to Rome for my birthday, I would be wearing it. And I indeed did - for my birthday lunch.

I’ve written about this before here and for Who What Wear, but I often invest in items that I know I’ll wear for years to come, during the sales for the upcoming seasons, and I knew this top would be the perfect piece to elevate my jeans for a: not-too-over-the-top city outfit that’s still chic and befitting of a beautiful city like Rome. Below are the rest of the items I packed during my stay, along with capsule wardrobe pieces that I wear again and again and often travel with, such as the oversized black blazer that I wear throughout the year. Hopefully the selection will help you pack for your next trip!
