The Yellow Dress
With all this warm weather we've been having in Paris lately, bar last weekend, I've been getting a little spend happy and doubling the amount of summer dresses I have in my wardrobe. As nothing keeps me cooler than a floaty, preferably linen dress. Wouldn't you agree? This yellow number from Zara (also linen), is the newest addition. The humble dress has gone through something of a revival of late, with every magazine and fashion editor touting it as THE wardrobe item for summer. Although I've spent a large part of my life devoted to a pair of high-waisted jeans and a simple tee, I couldn't agree more and have been enjoying dressing a little more feminine and showing off my curves. I feel cooler too (temperature wise) and I've found myself populating my wishlists with dresses of all different shapes and colours. There's also been a myriad of brands launching in the last few years, I'm thinking Self-Portrait, Loveshackfancy, Rouje, Doen, Borgo De Nor dedicated to the dress - a path perhaps partly paved by the likes of Reformation. In my opinion there's currently nothing sexier than a woman in a 1940s-style tea dress and espadrilles à la Anne-Laure of Adenorah.
You might have read my earlier post about my recent interest in yellow. Despite being this season's hottest hue, I've also felt the need to embrace more colour. It could be the current climate, which has been testing in recent years, to put it lightly. Yellow remains the most surprising colour I ever thought I'd be attracted to, as I never imagined it was a shade I could pull off - but it is the happiest of shades! I still need to be sporting a tan wearing the one here, but I'm rolling with it anyway. And I did aim for summer chic, but somehow whilst carrying a basket and flowers brought from the market, I seemed to have morphed into a Disney character - scroll down for the best impression of Belle from Beauty and the Beast that you'll ever get from me. I guess that's what dresses do - they make you look and feel a little more special! Have you been wearing more dresses lately?
