Sunshine Yellow
I haven't always been the biggest fan of yellow, mainly because it reminds me of Sesame Street's Big Bird, and if done wrong you'll either end up looking like a canary or a queen bee. You may have noticed (and I've also said this) that I'm attempting to embrace more colour. I wore too many muted over winter - perhaps reflecting its grey mood and have, with the changing of seasons felt the need for to inject some brights into my wardrobe. Also colour is big this season - I don't religiously follow fashion (although I attend the shows), but I do pay attention to what's in trend and kaleidoscopic shades and colour blocking lit up the SS17 catwalks last September. Designers also have a knack to create collections that are just the right antidote to current climates (one of the reasons I'm so fascinated by the industry) - and what with all the crap going in the world at the moment, we are in need of a brighter hues to help spread some joy!
I spotted this sunshine yellow striped number and photographed it on Ile Saint Louis about three weeks ago (I'm behind on my posting), when the weather suddenly hit 23 degrees and was warm enough for ice-cream (bought from Berthillon).
When styling, I'd go for one yellow item, otherwise you will undoubtedly end up looking like the aforementioned Big Bird. I think it looks particularly good paired with denim or a neutral shade (white or cream is good too) - although steer clear of black as you'll end up looking like a bee. I'm also really enjoying the combo of yellow and caramel. What would you wear it with?
