One of my favourite things about fashion is the idea that it allows you to be creative on a daily basis. To me, fashion is about waking up in the morning and inventing yourself. It’s about deciding what version of yourself you will present to the world that day and what facets of your personality you’d like to highlight. Style can also lend extra help when it comes to your confidence or mood. You’ve probably heard expressions like ‘the power suit’ and ‘dressing for the job you want.’ There’s no denying that what you wear makes an important first impression. Getting ready for a big presentation or a first date can be nerve-racking but by selecting an outfit that makes you feel confident, beautiful, intelligent and feminine can do wonders for the self-esteem!
Personally, I love the way fashion can change your mood. By putting on boyfriend jeans and trainers, I feel relaxed and tomboyish (not to mention comfortable), which is perfect for running errands or grabbing casual drinks with friends. On the other hand, when I don a dress, I feel instantly more feminine and elegant which is great for those days when I’m feeling a bit less than confident or if I have an event that day. My fashion choices allow me to create the version of myself I need for the tasks that lie ahead and go forward with confidence.
This Nanushka dress is a current favourite when I want an infusion of femininity. The red and black pattern is interesting without being too busy, the bow detailing gives it a bit of flair and the slit in the front gives just the right amount of leg: it’s the perfect dress for autumn and can be dressed up or down. I belted mine to tighten the silhouette of the waist and paired it with some my trusty Pierre Hardy boots (similar here) and a Wicker Wings bag. Throw a trench on top to pull it all together for autumn and I’m ready to take on the world!
